Copied this humorous title from slate magazine.
After watching the movie, no, in fact, during the movie itself, I had an intense desire rush out of that dark room to the nearest bookstore to read the book again to assure myself that Sherlock Holmes, as a story, is not that bad. Either that or to confirm that SH is indeed such a shallow character.
I have yet to get my hands on one. (Man, I need to get me a Kindle.) No, it can't be. Or the book would never have survived that long in our memories. It has to be the fault of the movie.

I didn't see the movie BUT my kids did. They have read the books and they were NOT impressed with the movie.
Movies are a funny thing. Every movie seems to have its fans and haters. Very subjective art.
I probably didn't hate the movie --- it just wasn't what I expected. I would have probably been able to enjoy the movie more had I not read the book before when I was a child.
For example, I don't remember Sherlock Holmes having been so physical in the book. Then again, what do I know. I was probably reading an abridged version, so I may not have gotten the details.
